Anna Gyimesi: Falling '16
Els is in her forties, divorced and in love again. For her, falling in love was not easy: she has had to accept that she has a life even though her twenty-year-old daughter is seeking psychiatric euthanasia, something that as a mother, she can do nothing about. In the storm of her own emotions, mixed with guilt, anger, fear, and hope, love is what teaches Els to try to move forward, even if it seems impossible. Falling is a lyrical, found footage-based testimony from a mother confronted by the taboos surrounding motherhood and the most difficult situation of her life.
Lia Lőrinczy: Who I Could Possibly Be '29
The story of an extraordinary mother, who survived everything to be with her children. Abused since childhood, at the age of eighteen Viki was sold into human trafficking. Escaping after years of prostitution, Viki started a new life, got married, and had four children, only to find her greatest struggles were just beginning. This short documentary is the testimony of an exceptional survivor who decided she could no longer remain silent.
Zsófia Paczolay: Budapest Silo '24
József has worked at the largest, still-operational grain silo in Budapest for more than 30 years. He lives in a container home next to the structure, and trucks and trains often rumble past his window. Lowered into the ten-story-deep silos to clean them, he looks like a scuba diver. It’s dangerous and potentially deadly work, especially considering József’s decades-long exposure to crop dust. But rather than escape, it seems as if he has become an integral part of his environment.
