Gods of Molenbeek
The Molenbeek district of Brussels, to some a so-called “jihadi capital”, is home to 6-year-old boys Aatos and Amine. Here, they listen to spiders, discover black holes and quarrel over who gets to command the flying carpet that will take them to the lands of their ancestors. Aatos wants a god of his own, as Amine has Allah. The threat of the adults' world suddenly interrupts their play when terrorists set off a bomb in a nearby metro station. The streets are filled with tanks, armed soldiers and policemen. Bedtime stories now evoke images of violence, and even their friendship is put on trial until an expected twist reshapes their lives.
